Jump to: Extremes Records Summaries Notes the top
An unusual cloudband persisted over the nothern half of the Territory mainly due to a mid-level trough bringing weather more akin to a southern winter. In addition to the cloudy skies, cool southeasterly airflow from the southern latitudes caused the temperatures to fall.
Rainfall for the month was above average in the northern 2/3rds of the Territory. Some areas in the Victoria River District recorded highest on record rainfall with Victoria River Downs recording 96.2 mm when the previous record, during it's 114 year history, was 27.5 mm. Similarly, Keep River Rangers received 111.4 mm of rainfall, smashing it's previous record of 4.4 mm.
Some sites had their highest total June rainfall on record.
Some sites had their highest daily June rainfall on record.
Maximum temperatures of 4 to 5 degrees below normal prevailed in the central areas of the Northern Territory. Some stations recorded their lowest ever maximum temperature not only for June but for any month of the year. For example, Larrimah recorded 14.9°C on the 20th of June where its previous lowest record was 17.4°C for June and 16.9°C for any month of the year. Similarly Tennant Creek reported 8.0°C on the 20th where 12.8°C was the previous record for June and 11.9°C for any month. Other areas in the Territory reported maximum temperatures between 2 and 3 degrees below normal.

Jump to: Extremes Records Summaries Notes the top
This statement has been prepared based on information available at 11 am on Monday 2 July 2007. Some checks have been made on the data, but it is possible that results will change as new information becomes available.
Normals are long-term means based on observations from
the years 1800 to 2006.
They are not shown for sites with less than 10 years of record in that time, as they cannot then be calculated reliably.
The median
is sometimes more representative than the
mean
of "normal" rain.
The Rank indicates how rainfall this time compares with the climate record for the site,
based on the
decile ranking
(very low rainfall is in decile 1, low in decile 2 or 3,
normal in decile 4 to 7, high in decile 8 or 9
and very high is in decile 10).
The Fraction of normal shows how much rain has fallen this time as a
percentage of the long-term mean.
