Another dry month.

Summary
August 2007 was dry across the State with some Districts receiving only a small fraction of the usual rainfall. Daytime temperatures were well above normal, whilst night-time temperatures were mostly near normal. Skies were mostly clear, and there were many more of sunshine than usual.
Rainfall
The wettest overall was 199.6 mm at Weeaproinah. The driest overall was 2.1 mm at Ouyen (Post Office). The wettest single day 53.4 mm at Mt Baw Baw on the 12th.
Temperature
The hottest day was 29.9°C at Mildura Airport on the 30th. The warmest days on average were 20.0°C at Mildura Airport. The coolest days on average were 1.6°C at Mt Hotham. The coldest day was −3.9°C at Mt Hotham on the 13th.
The coldest night was −7.5°C at Mt Hotham on the 13th. The coolest nights on average were −2.3°C at Mt Hotham. The warmest nights on average were 9.9°C at Wilsons Promontory Lighthouse. The warmest night was 15.5°C at Lakes Entrance (Eastern Beach Road) on the 10th.
Wind
The strongest wind gust was 137 km/h at Grampians (Mount William) on the 10th, whilst very strong winds on the 31st caused considerable damage in the Geelong area.

The Rank indicates how rainfall this time compares with the climate record for the site,
based on the
decile ranking
(very low rainfall is in decile 1, low in decile 2 or 3,
normal in decile 4 to 7, high in decile 8 or 9
and very high is in decile 10).
The Fraction of normal shows how much rain has fallen this time as a
percentage of the long-term mean.
