| Lists have been run using all available data, but don't list
stations with less than one year of data. For daily files the following values are
supplied: |
|
| Site: |
Bureau of Meteorology station number |
| Name: |
Station name |
| Lat: |
Latitude to two decimal places |
| Lon: |
Longitude to two decimal places |
| Start: |
First month/year where observations of this type are available |
| End: |
Last month/year where observations of this type are available |
| Years: |
Equivalent years with observations. (Total months with data/12). This
takes into account gaps, therefore the start year could be 1940, the end year 1960, but
there may be only 10 years worth of data. |
| %: |
Percentage complete. This figure is the estimated completeness of
observations averaged over all months of record, taking gaps into account. As this
does not indicate where gaps occur it is a crude guide to record quality. |
| A: |
AWS (Automatic Weather Station) indicator. Y = Yes, this station currently has an
AWS, (most stations will not always have used an AWS). N = No. The presence of an
AWS does not imply that there is no observer at the
site. |
| Some lists have an extra field, Obs. This gives an average of
the number of observations per day of this type. This applies to elements like wind speed
which are usually measured more than once a day. A station may have had different
observation schedules throughout its operation. |
|
Following are notes specific to the rainfall data listings
|
| Sta |
State of Australia in which the station resides |
| WMO No. |
World Meteorological Organisation station number |
| Year Open |
Year in which the station opened. This is usually, but not always, the
first year for which data exist |
| Year Closed |
Year in which the station closed. This is usually, but not always, the
last year for which data exist. In a few situations a station may still be open but not
collecting climate data |
| Type |
The type of climate element(s) the station was measuring at the time of
the last record. A station that is listed as being "Rainfall Only" may have
measured other elements (such as maximum temperature) at some time in the past |
