Major Flood warnings have been issued for the Tweed River with flash flooding reported in the upper reaches of the Tweed Valley.

Category 3 Tropical Cyclone Jonica is now expected to cross the Gold Coast early Sunday afternoon .

Emergency services in Qld and NSW are urging residents in low lying areas to evacuate to higher ground.
