Tropical Cyclone Yvonne

Summary

Yvonne crossed the north Queensland coast near Dunk Island. On Dunk Island the wind tore roofing iron loose, uprooted large trees and brought down power lines.

Bloodwood trees up to 1 metre in diameter were uprooted or snapper off. The area affected was 50 to 60 km wide embracing Cardwell and El Arish.On the mainland trees up to 1.5 m were uprooted. Yvonne re-intensified upon reaching southern waters of the Gulf of Carpentaria before crossing the coast again on the Northern Territory side of the border.
