Yvonne crossed the north Queensland coast near Dunk Island. On Dunk Island the wind tore roofing iron loose, uprooted large trees and brought down power lines.
Bloodwood trees up to 1 metre in diameter were uprooted or snapper off. The area affected was 50 to 60 km wide embracing Cardwell and El Arish. On the mainland trees up to 1.5 m were uprooted. Yvonne re-intensified upon reaching southern waters of the Gulf of Carpentaria before crossing the coast again on the Northern Territory side of the border.
