eReefs

What is eReefs?

Commencing in January 2012, the five-year eReefs project will provide vital tools for decision making and communication spanning the entire Great Barrier Reef spectrum – from catchment to ocean – across space and time.

Read the Information Sheet (429KB) to find out more.

eReefs will use the latest technologies to collate data, develop new and integrated modelling and provide powerful visualisation, communication and reporting tools.

A Marine Water Quality Dashboard will provide timely access to water quality information essential to maintain a vibrant and healthy reef ecosystem. Read about the Dashboard (2.4Mb).

Who is involved?

The eReefs Project is a collaboration between the Great Barrier Reef Foundation, Bureau of Meteorology, CSIRO, Australian Institute of Marine Science and the Queensland Government, supported by funding from the Australian Government's Caring for our Country initiative, the BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance, the Queensland Government and the Science and Industry Endowment Fund.

The Bureau of Meteorology is the implementing agency for eReefs.
