22 Jan 09 - Oral Presentations

Please e-mail all Powerpoint presentations to 9ICSHMO@mcec.com.au by COB 5 February 2009 for testing. Please bring a backup copy of your presentation with you, and present yourself to the Speakers Preparation room no less than 2 hours prior to session commencing. You can also upload or check your presentation during early registration, 3-5pm Sunday 8 February 2009. The Speakers Preparation room is located in Meeting Room 4 on level 2 of the Melbourne Exhibition Centre. The conference reception desk can also direct you to this room as necessary. Two staff members will assist with presentations on Monday, so appreciate your assistance for early presentation loading. For more information, please check out oral guidelines.

14 Jan 09 - Registration Update

Places are filling fast, with over 400 registered attendees.

For those presenting a poster - at least one author on a poster must be registered for the conference. If no authors are able to attend the conference, one author must pay for a one-day registration and arrange for someone to mount and dismount their poster. Posters with no registered participants will not be accepted at this conference. Check out update on poster guidelines.

13 Jan 09 - Poster Print

Fedex Kinko's have advised us that they will be closing their Australian offices and so will no longer be able to print posters on-site in Australia. However, a local company with many branches, Kwik Kopy (http://www.kwikkopy.com.au) offers the same service. For collection of your poster, the branches at 520 Bourke St. and 45 William St. are within easy walking distance of the conference.


BUSINESS VISITOR VISA INFORMATION (General Guide Only)

  • All travellers to Australia must have a valid visa before boarding their plane; they cannot apply for a visa on arrival. (NB: The only exception is New Zealand and Norfolk Island passport holders who will be issued a visa on arrival in Australia and normally do not need to lodge a visa application prior to their departure, unless there are character or health concerns).
  • Participants require either a Short Validity Business ETA or a Business (Short Stay) Visa (including those holding diplomatic passports).
  • These visas are intended for visits of up to 3 months.

Flight Information

Qantas has recently announced it will commence services to South America, with flights from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Sydney. Qantas will operate these services on B747-400 aircraft on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays beginning November 24, 2008.

Australia's newest International Airline, V (Virgin) Australia, announced on Monday 31 March 2008 in Sydney, Australia that daily direct Sydney-Los Angeles flights as its inaugural trans-Pacific route, and a premium product offering when it takes to the skies from 15 December 2008.
