Directions

Located in the heart of Newcastle's City Centre, City Hall can be found between the Civic Railway Station and Civic Park. Bordered by Hunter and King Streets and adjoining the pedestrian mall known as Wheeler Place, Civic Precinct venues are only a short walk to the harbour foreshore, restaurants, cafes and accommodation. Approaching Newcastle CBD along King Street, Newcastle City Hall is at 290 King Street, opposite Civic Park.

Bus Routes

Several buses run along King Street and Hunter Street, with stops close to City Hall.
Bus routes running into the CBD are as follows: 100, 101, 103, 104, 107, 108, 111, 201, 222, 224, 225, 226, 230, 231, 235, 310, 311, 317, 334, 349, 350, 351.
You can purchase tickets for 1 hour ($3.00), 4 hours ($5.90), all day tickets ($9.00) or week long passes (from $39.00). All day and week long tickets also include ferry travel and there are further travel options available incorporating the train.

Parking

The following parking stations are open to the general public. Please note that most on-street parking is metered and has a maximum of 2 hours. Parking limits are strictly enforced.

Gibson Street Car Park (Civic West Car Park)

2 minute walk to City Hall. Gibson street multi story car park is open from Mon - Fri 7.00am - 7.00pm, but closed weekends. The earlybird rate is $5.50 per day if entering before 9.30am and staying for more than 7 hours, otherwise charges are approximately $1.80 per hour, up to a maximum of $14.70. Payment is by cash only. The car park can fill up quickly so we recommend arriving early in order to secure a space.

Honeysuckle Drive Car Park

5 minute walk to City Hall. 1 hour, 2 hour and 4 hour parking at $1.30 per hour Monday to Friday, free on weekends. 10 hour parking at $0.60 per hour Monday to Friday, free on weekends. Parking is also available on Honeysuckle Drive and Wright Lane at $1.30 per hour (up to 4 hours) Monday to Friday and free on weekends.

5 minute walk to City Hall. Minimum charge $4.00 for 1 hour, followed by $1.00 for each additional hour.
Newcastle Mall Car Park

15 minute walk to City Hall. The Mall multi-storey car park is open from Mon-Wed & Fri 7.00am-7.00pm, Thur 7.00am-9.30pm and Sat 7.00am-4.30pm.
