The Hydrometeorological Advisory Service (HAS)Provides services and advice to the Australian community in relation to issues in hydrometeorology. HAS products are derived from rainfall measurements to generate: the frequency of occurrence of rainfall events, estimates of extreme rainfall events, as well as the temporal and spatial distribution of rainfall. These products are used mainly by engineers and hydrologists in the design of structures such as dams, bridges, culverts and drainage systems. However, other applications to problems in environmental protection, agriculture and telecommunications also exist. HAS also undertakes specialised hydrometeorological studies upon request. In addition, HAS carries out research projects and re-evaluates its products in accordance with user needs. Program InformationLast Modified: 06 April 2006, Hydrometeorological Advisory Service. |
