Building your 'weather' skillsUsing newspaper maps and reports Most newspapers carry weather information. Collecting and collating these will improve your understanding of the forecasts, warnings and other information they contain. In addition to forecast information, the weather segments usually include weather conditions from the previous day, for instance, yesterday's maximum temperatures, and rainfall to 9am. Assembling this information systematically, and relating it to the accompanying weather maps, will enhance your understanding of how weather systems affect your region. Examples of weather segments from The Age and the Herald Sun in Melbourne suggest a useful scrapbook approach to building knowledge of local weather conditions. |
