Pinatubo, Philippines - long satellite loopThe java loop below covers several days of the Pinatubo eruption, from the morning of the 14th of June to the evening of the 16th. Time is given at the bottom of the images in UTC (Philippines time = UTC +8 hours). The top images are infrared, and the bottom images are visible (daytime only) images. Watch for the approach of the typhoon from the east as the eruptions increase, and then its partial regeneration to the northwest after the eruptions. The decay of the typhoon was due to environmental conditions rather than the eruption. Warning: this loop may take a few minutes to load; on a slow connection it may be better to see the shorter loops. Eruption gallery - click on a volcano
