Rinjani, 3rd August
Source: NOAA-12, 3rd August 1994, enhanced image (red indicates probable ash). The material between Lombok and the red area is probably more diffuse ash.

13 August
Source: NOAA-11, 13 August 1994, enhanced image (red indicates probable ash). Note the plume goes directly over Bali to the west.

Rinjani, 17 August
Source: NOAA-12, 17 August 1994, visible image. Again, the plume is drifting directly over Bali in easterly winds. The vegetated area around G. Rinjani is visible as a darker area.

Rinjani, 17th August
Source: NOAA-12, 17 August 1994, 2342 UTC, infrared image (nearly 24 hours later than the previous image). The ash plume still extends over Bali.

Rinjani, 30th August
Source: NOAA-11, 30th August 1994, enhanced infrared.

Comments: The 'crooked' shape of the plume on the images above and below (about three hours apart) indicates the ascent of the plume into a different wind regime.

Rinjani, 31 August
Source: NOAA-12, 31 August 1994, enhanced infrared.
