Meteorological and Related Research involves research undertaken in fulfilment of the Bureau's responsibilities as a national research agency to contribute to the advancement of meteorological science in Australia, to develop the application of meteorology to the needs of the Australian community, and to support the Bureau's services. The Bureau of Meteorology Research Centre (BMRC), in collaboration with the operational areas of the Bureau, carries out the main research activities reported in this chapter and is implemented through four outputs: Weather Research, Climate Research, Ocean Research and Hydrology Research. The research undertaken in the BMRC is complemented by a program of supporting research and development undertaken in the Bureau's Regional Offices and other Head Office branches. In this chapter: |
