Winter 2004 Metropolitan Survey Sample

The sample for the Metropolitan surveys is drawn at random from the metropolitan electronic phone directory. To randomise within the household, the interviewer asks to speak with the person in the household over 16 years of age who had the last birthday. The sample is chosen so as to be approximately representative of the demographics of the wider community in terms of age profile and male/female ratio. Equal numbers of respondents are interviewed in each state and territory capital city. The breakdown of respondents for the Winter 2004 survey (conducted ) is given below.
