Weather Broadcasts via Inmarsat SafetyNET

(Inmarsat Standard-C equipment required)

The Bureau of Meteorology provides a limited range of forecasts and warnings via the Inmarsat system. Services are provided for Bass Strait, Western Australian and Northern Territory coastal waters and for the Navarea 10 and Australian high seas areas.

These broadcasts are provided as part of the international Maritime Safety Information broadcast service to shipping, under the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS - Go to the International Maritime Organization to find out more about Maritime Safety and the GMDSS).
