Weather is essential for everyone, regardless of cultural and linguistic background.
The Bureau of Meteorology offers educational content about weather safety for rock fishing in five languages: Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, and Bahasa Malaysia, as well as English.
Rock fishing can be a very dangerous recreational activity, and research has shown those born overseas are over-represented in the number of deaths from rock fishing.
The Bureau encourages all rock fishers to make five vital weather safety checks: wave conditions, tide times, wind conditions, marine warnings, and changing weather. Armed with this information, they can make safer choices about where and when to fish.
The Bureau's translated content includes a webpage, graphic, and printable information sheet.
