Coastal Waters Forecast for South Australia

Weather Situation

A high 1030 hPa over Bass Strait will move eastwards over the southern Tasman Sea this evening. A vigorous cold front is expected to move across western and central parts of the State on Thursday, then across eastern parts on Friday as a ridge of high pressure extends across the State from the west.

Far West Coast: WA-SA Border to Fowlers Bay

Forecast for Tuesday 17 September until midnight

Winds: Easterly 10 to 15 knots reaching 15 to 20 knots during the evening. Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres. Swell: Southwesterly 1.5 to 2 metres. Weather: Mostly clear.

Forecast for Wednesday 18 September

Winds: East to northeasterly 15 to 20 knots tending north to northeasterly during the morning and early afternoon, then shifting west to southwest 10 to 15 knots in the west from late afternoon. Winds possibly reaching 20 to 25 knots offshore in the far east late evening. Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres. Swell: Southwesterly 1.5 to 2 metres. Weather: Mostly sunny.

Winds: Northwest to southwesterly 10 to 20 knots becoming southwesterly 20 to 25 knots in the middle of the day then increasing to 20 to 30 knots from the west during the afternoon. Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 2 to 3 metres around midday. 1st Swell: Southwesterly 2 metres, increasing to 2 to 3 metres during the morning. 2nd Swell: South to southeasterly around 1 metre. Weather: Mostly sunny morning. The chance of a thunderstorm in the late afternoon and evening.

Winds: East to southeasterly 10 to 15 knots. Winds possibly reaching 15 to 20 knots offshore at times. Seas: Around 1 metre. Swell: Southwesterly 2 to 2.5 metres. Weather: Mostly clear.

Strong Wind Warning for Wednesday for Upper West Coast

Winds: Northeasterly 10 to 15 knots reaching 15 to 20 knots offshore then extending throughout during the afternoon. Winds becoming northeast to northerly and reaching 20 to 30 knots in the late evening. Seas: 1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2 metres later in the evening. Swell: Southwesterly 1.5 to 2 metres. Weather: Mostly sunny.
