Abstract
The Australian Climate Observations Reference Network - Surface Air Temperature (ACORN-SAT) dataset v2 is comprised of a consistent - or homogeneous - daily temperature record since 1910, for up to 112 observation locations across Australia.
The ACORN-SAT v2 data was originally released in December 2018, and supercedes the ACORN-SAT v1 dataset. (see : http://www.bom.gov.au/metadata/19115/ANZCW0503900450 ).
The ACORN-SAT Australia v2 dataset includes data homogenised up until 2016-12, with non-homogenised data for 2017 onwards added incrementally.
This "v2, Snapshot v2.1.0.1" covers data from 1910 to 2019-05, with data homogenised until Dec.2016, and data for 2017 to May 2019 containing the latest values from ADAM, as at 2019-0702.
An "ACORN-SAT v2 ( ongoing)" dataset is available separately ( see
http://www.bom.gov.au/metadata/19115/ANZCW0503900725 ), including the most recent values from ADAM, for 2017 onwards (e.g is an extension of this snapshot).

For the history and details of each "reference" monitoring station, as well as the *log of data change dates and the comparison sites used, see [ http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/data/acorn-sat/stations/# ], and choose the relevant station from the map or list.
(*see the "Adjustment Summary" section of that webpage).
The same data is distributed from the Bureau, and NCI ( NCI Node /g/data/yj45/acorn/sat/ ). See Distribution section of this record.
Purpose:
The Australian Climate Observations Reference Network – Surface Air Temperature (ACORN-SAT) dataset series has been developed to monitor climate variability and change in Australia.

The difference between the ACORN-SAT Australia v2's "Snapshot v2.1.0.1" and "ongoing" datasets:
In the v.2 "ongoing" dataset, data for 2017 onwards, the latest QC'd data is directly sourced from the Bureau's ADAM database.
The "ongoing" dataset was snapshotted in 2019-07 (covering data to 2019-05), to create "Snapshot v2.1.0.1".
Where pre 2019-05 data in ADAM is corrected after 2019-0703, those value changes will not be included in this "Snapshot v2.1.0.1", but will be included in the "ongoing" dataset, and in snapshots made at a later date.
