Abstract
The mean sea level pressure (MSLP) isobars show lines of equal atmospheric pressure (hPa) that have been generated from the numerical prediction model, APS3 Australian Community Climate Earth-System Simulator (ACCESS-G) for greater Australia. The model incorporates equations that represent the motion of the atmosphere and its associated physics. The model is run four times a day at 0UTC, 06UTC, 12UTC and 18UTC and produces hourly forecasts from 0 hours (base time) to 84 hours. The isobars are derived from a 0.18 x 0.12 degree grid. As there is no manual input, the products generated will differ from the official forecasts, especially in the vicinity of weather fronts, tropical cyclones or when significant late-breaking observations have become available to forecasters. The units are hPa.

Lineage:
Statement: Shapefiles of mean sea level pressure (units of hPa) are derived from the netCDF4 file using Geospatial Data Abstraction Library (GDAL) utility gdal_contour. These shapefiles are ingested into a Postgres/PostGIS database and are the source of the WMS layer. The WMS layer is time enabled with times advertised through the GetCapabilities. If no time is specified, the layer defaults to the current forecast hour.
Dataset Update Frequency
Maintenance And Update Frequency: continual
Maintenance Note: The APS3 ACCESS-G model is run four times a day at 0UTC, 06UTC, 12UTC and 18UTC. However, the output is generally not available until six-seven hours after the run time.
