About Global Solar Radiation | Daily Solar Radiation Map | Solar Radiation Browse Service

This service provides access to browse images of satellite derived Daily Global Solar Radiation data available from November 1998 and tables of derived station data from December 1999. Historical data from the archive of Australian Radiation Network (surface) data from 1947 onwards and satellite derived estimates from 1990-1994 and July 1997 onward are available on request by contacting webclim@bom.gov.au

The search below returns a number of pages which include links to Daily Global Solar Radiation Maps for the requested period. The image or links in each page can then be viewed individually or as an animated loop. The option is provided to adjust the number of images or links in each page. A default option of 5 for images and 31 for links has been set, however this may be increased to allow longer loops. The browse service is currently only available for data from 19 November 1998 to 11 September 2002

White space on the maps indicates that there is no radiation data for that region on the day due to insufficient cloud free satellite data to meet quality control standards. If for any reason two or more consecutive GMS images are missed on any day, insufficient satellite data would have been available to calculate solar exposure over any part of Australia and therefore no map is provided.
