Initial Minor Flood Warning for the Cooks River

at Tempe

Flood Warning Number: 1


Heavy rainfall recorded across the Cooks River catchment since Saturday morning combined with high tide may cause minor flooding at Tempe Bridge Sunday evening.

A Severe Weather Warning for heavy rainfall is current for the Metropolitan, Illawarra and parts of Hunter and Central Tablelands Forecast Districts.

A Flood Watch is current for the Hawkesbury and Nepean, Cooks, Georges and Woronora Rivers.

Cooks River:

Minor flooding may occur along the Cooks River at Tempe Bridge.

The Cooks River at Tempe Bridge may reach the minor flood level (1.30 m) Sunday evening on the high tide.

Flood Safety Advice:

In life threatening emergencies, call 000 (triple zero) immediately. If you require rescue, assistance to evacuate or other emergency help, ring NSW SES on 132 500.

  • * Prevent damage to your vehicle. Move it under cover, away from areas likely to flood.
  • * Avoid being swept away. Stay out of fast-flowing creeks and storm drains.
  • * Never drive, ride or walk through flood water. Flood water can be deceptive and dangerous.
