Minor to Major Flood Warning for the Lachlan River

at Nanami, Forbes, Cotton Weir, Jemalong, Condobolin, Euabalong, Hillston and Booligal

MAJOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT EUABALONG

Renewed minor flooding is possible at Nanami, due to river level rises observed upstream at Cowra.

The main flood peak along the Lachlan River is at Forbes and a minor flood peak is being observed. This peak is expected downstream at Cottons Weir Saturday evening, where a minor flood peak is likely.

Moderate flooding continues at Jemalong and Condobolin. An earlier flood peak is approaching Euabalong where major flooding is occurring. Renewed river level rises are likely at Jemalong, Condobolin and Euabalong when the peak currently near Forbes arrives.

Further downstream, minor flooding is occurring at Hillston and Booligal with moderate flooding possible at Hillston.

Lachlan River downstream of Wyangala Dam to Jemalong Weir:

Moderate flooding is occurring at Jemalong. Minor flooding is occurring at Cottons Weir and Forbes.

Renewed river level rises are occurring along the Lachlan River at Nanami, which may reach the minor flood level (7.40 m) during Monday.

The Lachlan River at Forbes Iron Bridge is currently at 8.81 metres and steady, near its peak with minor flooding. The Lachlan River at Forbes Iron Bridge is likely to peak near 9.00 metres during Saturday. The river level is likely to exceed the minor flood level (8.80 m) late Saturday.

The Lachlan River at Cottons Weir is likely to peak near 5.00 metres Saturday evening.

The Lachlan River at Jemalong Weir Downstream may reach around 7.60 metres during Monday, with moderate flooding.

Lower Lachlan River downstream of Jemalong Weir to Euabalong:

Major flooding is occurring along the Lower Lachlan River at Euabalong and moderate flooding is occurring at Condobolin.

The Lachlan River at Condobolin Bridge fell below the major flood levels (6.70 metres) around 02:30 pm Wednesday 28 September and is currently at 6.47 metres and falling, with moderate flooding. Renewed river level rises are possible from mid week.

The Lachlan River at Euabalong may reach around 7.00 metres Saturday into Sunday.

Lower Lachlan River downstream of Euabalong to Booligal Weir:

Moderate flooding is possible along the Lower Lachlan River at Hillston and minor flooding is occurring at Booligal.

The Lachlan River at Hillston Weir may reach the moderate flood level (2.80 m) during Monday.

The Lachlan River at Booligal Weir may reach around 3.00 metres mid October with minor flooding.
