Moderate to Major Flood Warning for the Murrumbidgee River

at Hay and Balranald

Flood Warning Number: 182

MAJOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT BALRANALD

Flooding is no longer occurring along the Murrumbidgee River at Darlington Point and Carrathool. River levels at Darlington Point fell below the minor flood level Monday afternoon.

Further downstream, moderate flooding is continuing along the Murrumbidgee River at Hay, and is likely to fall below moderate flood level around Friday.

Major flooding is continuing along the Murrumbidgee River at Balranald.

No significant rainfall is forecast for the next few days.

Murrumbidgee River downstream of Narrandera to Darlington Point:

Flooding is no longer occurring along the Murrumbidgee River at Darlington Point.

The Murrumbidgee River at Darlington Point is currently at 4.09 metres and falling, below the minor flood level (5.50 m).

Murrumbidgee River downstream of Darlington Point to Balranald Weir:

Moderate flooding continues at Hay. Major flooding continues at Balranald.

The Murrumbidgee River at Hay Town is currently at 7.67 metres and falling, with moderate flooding. The Murrumbidgee River at Hay Town may remain above the moderate flood level (7.50 metres) until Friday.

The Murrumbidgee River at Balranald Weir Downstream peaked around 7.39 metres Saturday 3 December and is currently at 7.36 metres and steady, with major flooding. The Murrumbidgee River at Balranald Weir Downstream is expected to remain above the major flood level (7.10 metres) through to mid to late December.

  • * Avoid being swept away. Stay out of fast-flowing creeks and storm drains.
  • * Never drive, ride or walk through flood water. Flood water can be DECEPTIVE and dangerous.
