Minor to Major Flood Warning for the Namoi River

at Gunnedah, Boggabri, Narrabri, Wee Waa, Bugilbone and Goangra

MAJOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT GUNNEDAH

River levels at Gunnedah are approaching a peak near 8.60 metres with major flooding, this is higher than the flood level of 8.20 metres experienced on Wednesday (24 November 2021).

MAJOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT NARRABRI

As flood water moves downstream of Gunnedah, further rises have been observed at Boggabri and and Narrabri. Major flooding is occurring at Narrabri.

MAJOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT WEE WAA

Major flooding is occurring along the Namoi River at Wee Waa. Wee Waa is expected to remain above the major flood level for the coming week.

Minor flooding is occurring at Goangra. Renewed river level rises to the moderate flood level are possible at Bugilbone and Goangra.

Namoi River:

Major flooding is occurring at Gunnedah, Narrabri and Wee Waa. Minor flooding is occurring at Boggabri and Goangra. Renewed river level rises to the moderate flood level at Bugilbone and Goangra are possible.

The Namoi River at Gunnedah is expected to peak near 8.60 metres during Sunday, with major flooding.

The Namoi River at Boggabri is likely to peak near 8.60 metres during Monday, with minor flooding.

The Narrabri Creek at Narrabri is likely to reach around 7.20 metres overnight Monday into Tuesday, with major flooding.

The Namoi River at Wee Waa (Glencoe) may remain around between 7.30 and 7.40 metres during Monday, with major flooding. An extended peak is expected for the coming week.

The Namoi River at Bugilbone is expected to exceed the minor flood level (4.90 m) Sunday morning. Further rises to the moderate flood level (5.50 metres) are possible early December.

The Namoi River at Goangra may reach the moderate flood level (6.70 m) early December.

  • * Avoid drowning. Stay out of rising water, seek refuge in the highest available place.
  • * Prevent damage to your vehicle. Move it under cover, away from areas likely to flood.
  • * Avoid being swept away. Stay out of fast-flowing creeks and storm drains.
  • * Never drive, ride or walk through flood water. Flood water can be deceptive and dangerous.
