A tropical low (30U) is forecast to move southeastwards in the Gulf of Carpentaria tonight and Saturday, then turn westwards on Sunday. A broad area of low pressure extends over remaining coastal waters.

At 3:30 pm CST a Tropical Low was located about 160 nautical miles west northwest of Weipa and 170 nautical miles east northeast of Nhulunbuy. Centre located near 11.3S 139.5E. Recent movement has been towards the southeast at 7 knots.
