A weak ridge of high pressure along the Queensland coast will maintain east to northeasterly winds across the Arafura Sea and northern Gulf of Carpentaria. A trough over central Australia is moving northwards and will maintain northwesterly winds across the southern Gulf of Carpentaria and Timor Sea.
