IDD10111 Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology Northern Territory Territory Forecast Issued at 5:00 am CST on Sunday 8 November 2009 Warning Summary A Fire Weather Warning is current for the eastern Darwin-Daly District. Current Weather Summary and Future Developments: A strong high in the Tasman Sea extends a strengthening ridge along the Queensland coast and is directing an east to northeast flow across much of the Territory. A weak trough near Tennant Creek is moving to the southwest and a more humid northeast flow will extend in its wake across much of the Territory with isolated showers and storms developing in most parts, before contracting to the west by Tuesday. Another trough over the interior of WA approaches the Alice Springs District later today but stalls along the western border. An increase in showers and storms over the western Top End as the Queensland ridge weakens and a more humid flow develops. Forecast for Sunday: Alice Springs District... Isolated afternoon showers except in the far southwest. Moderate east to northeast winds, gusty at times during the morning in the western half. North of the Alice Springs District... Isolated afternoon showers and one or two gusty storms about the western Top End, the Victoria River and Barkly Districts and in the Gulf Country. Fine elsewhere though the odd shower about remaining coasts. Hot inland. Moderate east to northeast winds, fresh at times during the day. Fire Danger: High to Very High throughout. Forecast for Monday: Isolated afternoon showers and storms about the western Top End, Gulf Country and along the western borders of the Territory. Fine elsewhere, though afternoon showers about the north and east coasts. Moderate east to northeast winds. Tuesday Outlook: Isolated afternoon showers and storms about the western Top End, Gulf Country and along the western borders of the Territory. Fine elsewhere though afternoon showers about the north and east coasts. Wednesday Outlook: Isolated afternoon showers and storms about the western Top End and along the western borders of the Territory. Fine elsewhere though afternoon showers about the north and east coasts. The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 pm CST Sunday.
