TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST
CANCELLATION DETAILED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING
Issued at 2:33 pm Tuesday, 21 April 2015.
Thunderstorm activity has temporarily eased in the Hunter Valley; however areas of heavy rain and very windy conditions persist. Details of these conditions are included in a separate broader severe weather warning that remains current for the Hunter (including the Central Coast), Sydney Metropolitan and Illawarra districts.
The thunderstorm situation will be closely monitored and further warnings issued if neccessary.
In the hour to 9:45am Tocal recorded very intense rainfall of 112mm and between 9am and 1pm Mailand recorded 246mm.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 218. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
