Weather Situation

A weak high pressure system to the north of Victoria will move into the Tasman Sea today. A series of cold fronts will then cross the State between late Friday and early Monday.

Forecast for the rest of Thursday

Areas of morning frost in the northeast. A partly cloudy day. Isolated light showers developing from the southwest during the evening. Light to moderate north to northwesterly winds, tending fresh and gusty at times in the west during the day then over elevated areas in the evening. A mild to warm day with temperatures above average.

Friday 19 September

Isolated showers, tending more scattered about southern and mountain parts. Possible thunderstorms in the north and near southwest-facing coasts. Small hail in the southwest in the evening. Showers falling as snow above 1400 metres in the late evening. Moderate to fresh and gusty northerly winds, tending westerly from the west during the late afternoon and evening. A mild to warm day with temperatures above average, although becoming cooler in the southwest.

Saturday 20 September

Scattered showers about southern and mountain parts, isolated showers elsewhere, although remaining mostly dry in the far northwest. Small hail in the south. Showers falling as snow above 900 metres in the east. A cool to cold day with below average temperatures. Moderate west to southwesterly winds, fresh about the coast.

Sunday 21 September

Scattered showers about southern and mountain parts, isolated showers elsewhere. Showers falling as snow above 1200 metres. A cool day with below average temperatures. Mainly moderate west to northwesterly winds.
