Local Waters Wind Warning
for Gippsland Lakes, Western Port and Port Phillip.

Issued at 3:23 am EDT on Sunday 22 November 2009.

Please be aware
Wind gusts can be 40 percent stronger than the averages given here, and maximum waves may be up to twice the height.

Weather Situation

A low pressure system tracking across Victoria will move rapidly southeastwards to lie near Wilsons Promontory about 0800 Sunday then east of Tasmania by 1500 Sunday and well southeast of Tasmania by Monday morning.


Strong wind warning for Port Phillip
Winds: Southwesterly developing up to 30 knots late morning. Seas: 1 to 2 metres.

Strong wind warning for Western Port
Winds: Southwesterly developing up to 30 knots later this morning. Seas: Up to 1.5 metres increasing to 2 to 3 metres in the south.

Strong wind warning for Gippsland Lakes
Winds: West to southwesterly developing up to 30 knots during the afternoon.

The next warning will be issued by 11:00 am EDT Sunday.
