Weather Situation
An active monsoon trough extends over the Gulf of Carpentaria, Cape York Peninsula and northern Coral Sea, with an embedded tropical low over the Peninsula. The low is forecast to move slowly eastward over coming days, and should move into the Coral Sea late on Friday or on Saturday. A weak ridge extends along the east coast south of the monsoon trough, strengthening from Thursday as a new high moves into the southern Tasman Sea. An inland trough will linger over the west for several days.

Mostly clear. The chance of a thunderstorm in the southeast early this evening. Winds easterly 15 to 25 km/h.

Mostly sunny. Winds northeasterly 20 to 30 km/h turning easterly in the middle of the day. Overnight temperatures falling to 23 to 28 with daytime temperatures reaching 35 to 40.
