Weather Situation

A trough over the northwest to central interior of Queensland will contract to the west and remain slow moving over the next few days. A ridge over eastern Queensland will persist for several days, strengthening later this week as a high moves into the Tasman Sea. A trough may develop in the far northern Coral Sea in the coming days and extend over the northern Peninsula later this week. A weak tropical low may form in the trough in the northwestern Coral Sea later this week, before drifting slowly eastward and away from the Queensland east coast over the weekend.

Partly cloudy. Slight chance of a shower, becoming less likely later this evening. The chance of a thunderstorm. Winds east to northeasterly 15 to 20 km/h becoming light in the evening.

Wednesday 19 February

Partly cloudy. Medium chance of showers in the north, slight chance elsewhere. The chance of a thunderstorm in the north. Light winds becoming east to northeasterly 15 to 20 km/h in the middle of the day then becoming light in the evening. Overnight temperatures falling to the low to mid 20s with daytime temperatures reaching the low to mid 30s.
