Forecast issued at 4:15 pm EST on Monday 22 April 2024.

Weather Situation

A large high moving east into the Tasman Sea is extending a firm ridge across the state. This high is forecast to continue moving eastwards away from Australia over the next several days, weakening the ridge slightly. A new high will move into the Great Australian Bight towards the end of the week, maintaining and restrengthening the ridge across the state. A low-pressure system in the southern Coral Sea is likely to be slow moving over the next day or two, enhancing winds and swells along parts of the southern and central Queensland coast. The system should move eastwards by mid-week.
