Weather Situation

A large, slow moving high pressure system in the Tasman Sea extends a firm ridge along the Queensland coast, which will remain in place through the week. A broad area of low pressure is developing over the northern interior of the continent and will remain slow moving this week. This setup will lead to tropical moisture extending through much of northern, central and western Queensland over the next few days. A series of upper troughs will maintain unstable conditions across much of the state through the week.

Cloudy. High (80%) chance of showers and thunderstorms. Winds east to northeasterly 15 to 25 km/h.

Wednesday 22 November

Partly cloudy. Medium (60%) chance of showers or a storm, most likely in the late morning and afternoon. The thunderstorms may be severe. Light winds becoming easterly 15 to 20 km/h in the morning then becoming light in the evening. Overnight temperatures falling to between 17 and 21 with daytime temperatures reaching the mid to high 20s.
