Please be aware Wind gusts can be 40 percent stronger than the averages given here, and maximum waves may be up to twice the height [issued 1126 Saturday]SYNOPTIC SITUATION A complex low pressure system over the northern Tasman Sea is expected to move eastwards during the weekend, with gale force winds over southern Queensland waters decreasing late today or in the evening. Large south to southeasterly waves are expected to affect southern Queensland waters [south of Sandy Cape] during the weekend, resulting in rough surf conditions. A high [1031 hPa] over the Great Australian Bight will move slowly east during the next few days, extending a strengthening ridge over much of Queensland. [issued 1126 Saturday]
