Weather Situation

A tropical low [1004 hPa] is situated over the northwestern Queensland, near Northern Territory border. This low is moving slowly towards the north and may briefly move into Gulf waters on Tuesday before slipping back southwest over land on Wednesday. Strong northwesterly winds may develop in Gulf waters on late Tuesday and gradually ease on late Wednesday dependant on the movement and development of the low.

Strong Wind Warning for Tuesday for South East Gulf of Carpentaria

Winds
North to northwesterly 15 to 20 knots, increasing to 20 to 25 knots early in the morning and reaching up to 30 knots in the late evening. Winds inshore west of Mornington Island becoming west to southwesterly during the afternoon.
Seas
1 to 1.5 metres, increasing to 1.5 to 2.5 metres during the morning.
Swell
North to northwesterly around 1 metre inshore, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres offshore during the morning.
