Weather Situation

A surface trough lies from the Darling Downs northwestwards to about Normanton, and will continue to move north and eastwards overnight, moving off the east coast south of about Bowen by Saturday morning. A strong high pressure system over southern Western Australia will move slowly eastwards during the weekend, extending a firm ridge into Queensland in the wake of the trough.

Clear. Winds west to northwesterly 15 to 20 km/h becoming light in the evening.

Saturday 2 August

Isolated light showers about Fraser Island early in the morning. Sunny day. Light winds becoming southerly 15 to 25 km/h in the morning then becoming light in the evening. Overnight temperatures falling to between 6 and 11 with daytime temperatures reaching between 19 and 23.
