Weather Situation

A trough over central Queensland extends cloudy conditions through the northern half of the state. The trough will weaken and contract north during the weekend. An upper level trough will shift east over southeastern Queensland today. Another trough should shift north from New South Wales into southeastern Queensland late Sunday or on Monday. A high pressure system over southeastern Australia will move east over the Tasman Sea during the next few days. A stronger high will shift east into the Tasman Sea late Sunday, extending a firm ridge along the east Queensland coast.

Forecast for the rest of Friday

Mostly sunny. Isolated showers developing, mostly near the coast. The chance of isolated thunderstorms along the coastal fringe and about Fraser Island this afternoon and evening. Light winds becoming east to southeasterly 15 to 20 km/h in the late afternoon then becoming light in the evening. Daytime maximum temperatures in the high 20s.
