Fire Weather Warning
for the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt forecast districts

Weather Situation

Severe fire dangers are affecting the Maranoa and Warrego district today, with the potential for localised Extreme conditions in forested parts of the district.

Severe fire dangers are forecast for the Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt, and the Central Highlands and Coalfields districts on Tuesday, with the potential for localised Extreme conditions in forested parts of the districts.

A surface trough and associated hot and dry airmass lies through the east of the Maranoa and Warrego district and will move slowly eat today. Fresh west to northwesterly winds over the Darling Downs and Granite Belt, with freshening west to southwesterly in the wake of the trough.

A few dry thunderstorms with the potential for cloud to ground lighting strikes may affect the eastern Central Highlands area this afternoon.
