Flood Warning for the Fitzroy River

Moderate to Major Flood Warning for the Connors, Isaac, Mackenzie and Fitzroy Rivers

Flood Warning Number: 19

The main flood peak in the Fitzroy system is now between Pink Lagoon and Yatton and will move downstream over the next week.

Heavy rainfall has cleared off the Fitzroy catchment. No significant rainfall is recorded since 9am Thursday.

Dawson River downstream of Theodore:

Moderate flooding is likely along the Dawson River downstream of Theodore.

The Dawson River at Moura is likely to remain below the minor flood level (6.00m) during Friday.

The Dawson River at Baralaba is likely to exceed the minor flood level (4.00 m) during Friday. Moderate flood levels are possible over the weekend.

Don and Dee Rivers:

Moderate flooding is peaking in the Don River at Rannes and in Callide Creek at Goovigen. Most of the locations upstream have peaked and flooding is now easing.

Connors and Isaac Rivers:

Major flooding is expected along the Connors and Isaac Rivers.

There is very limited data available due to station and communication failures.

Major flood levels are occurring downstream on the Isaac River at Yatton. Major flooding will continue at Yatton well into next week.

Mackenzie River:

Significant major flooding is occurring along the Mackenzie River.

The Mackenzie River at Tartrus is currently at 17.76 metres and rising, and approaching the record flood level of 18.19 metres from 1958. The Mackenzie River at Tartrus is likely to reach around 18.00 metres (Major flood level is 15 metres) Friday afternoon.

Fitzroy River:

Minor flooding will continue into the weekend with minor to moderate flooding expected to develop downstream to Rockhampton.

River levels in the Fitzroy River at Yaamba are expected to be rising. The Fitzroy River at Yaamba is expected to remain around the minor flood level (9.00 m) during the next few days. Rises are expected from the weekend, with moderate flooding expected to develop from Monday.

The Fitzroy River at Rockhampton is expected to remain below the minor flood level (7.00 m) during the next few days. Rises are expected from the weekend, with minor to moderate flooding expected to develop during Tuesday and Wednesday. Peak predictions will be provided for Rockhampton after peaks are recorded upstream.
