Senior Research Scientist

Current work and responsibilities

Huqiang is a Senior Research Scientist in the Earth System Modelling (ESM) Program. His research covers the areas of

(i) Land-surface processes in weather and climate models: Studying impacts of land-surface processes on ACCESS NWP, seasonal forecast,and climate variability and predictability in the Australian-Asia region; Assessing the application of land-surface models in drought monitoring and water resource management;

(ii) Climate physics and dynamics: Exploring drivers governing climate variability and predictability in Australia-Asian reigon; Studying the Australian-Asian monsoons and their interactions;

(iii) Climate change projections: Exploring uncertainties in climate modelling and projections; Modelling global monsoon system under warmed climate; Modelling impacts of land-use on regional and global climate;

(iv) Leading collaborative projects between Bureau of Meteorology and China Meteorological Administration on monsoon and land-surface studies
