GMS Browse Service

Geostationary Satellite Archive | NOAA Polar Orbiting Archive | Other Satellite Derived Products

This service provides free access to browse images for GMS Visible (1:32 resolution) or Infrared (1:8 resolution) channels to assist with the selection of required dates and times for ordering higher resolution images or radiances from the Bureau's Satellite Data Archive. The search below returns a number of pages which include either images or links for the required channel in the requested time period. The option is provided to adjust the number of images or links in each page. A default option of 5 for images and 28 for links has been set. The time on each browse image is the start time of the 25 minute north-south scan.

The browse service is currently only available for data from 7 April 1999 . During the first week of each month the browse images for previous month will be added. Data data can still be ordered from the GMS archive for ealier periods, however it may be some time before the browse service is extended to include the ealier data. Charges apply to extraction of high resolution data from the archive. Quotes for provision of this data in the format, projection and on the medium required can be obtained by submiting a request for quote form.
