This service provides free access to browse images for GMS (up to 21 May 2003) and GOES PACIFIC Visible (1:32 resolution) or Infrared (1:8 resolution) channels to assist with the selection of required dates and times for ordering higher resolution images or radiances from the Bureau's Satellite Data Archive. The time on each browse image is the start time of the 25 minute north-south scan.

The search options below returns a number of pages which include either images, links or loops for the required channel in the requested time period.

Option 1 provides a loop of one image per day to allow a broad time scale search.
Option 2 provides a more focused search, returning a sequence of pages which include all the browse images/links in the requested periods. The images in each page can then be viewed individually, or as an animated loop.

The browse service is currently only available for data from 7 April 1999 . During the first week of each month the browse images for previous month will be added. Data can still be ordered from the GMS archive for earlier periods, however it may be some time before the browse service is extended to include the earlier data. Charges apply to extraction of high resolution data from the archive. Quotes for provision of this data in the format, projection and on the medium required can be obtained by clicking on the "Feedback" tab at the top of this page, and select "Satellite Pictures" from the Feedback page.

Pleas Note: Because loop load time will increase as the selected time period is increased, this loop is restricted to maximum of 62 images.
