Global Climate Change and Variability


The pages below describe climate trends and variations in the global instrumental record. They are intended to allow comparisons between Australian and global climate changes. Data used for global temperature trends has been obtained from the Climatic Research Unit (CRU), School of Environmental Sciences, University of East Anglia. Data used for global precipitation trends has been obtained from the U.S. National Climatic Data Center.



Go to trend maps

Trend maps show the value of the linear trend of rainfall and temperature for selected regions, seasons and time periods.

 

Go to average maps

Average maps show the long-term average value of temperature for selected seasons.

 

Go to timeseries

Timeseries graphs show historical values of rainfall and temperature averaged over selected regions and seasons.
