Weather Situation

A high pressure ridge extends across Bass Strait today and will weaken on Sunday with north to northeasterly winds developing. Northwesterly winds will freshen on Monday, bringing hot to very hot conditions to the east and south, ahead of a cold front crossing Tasmania in the late evening and early Tuesday morning. The cold front brings cooler southwesterly winds, with an embedded trough in the flow set to cross the state late Tuesday morning and afternoon. A high pressure system sits to the southwest of Tasmania on Wednesday, directing a southeasterly wind flow over the state.
