A high centred just to the east of Tasmania will move slowly northeastwards during the next couple of days, directing a relatively mild northerly airflow over Tasmania, A weakening cold front will approach from the southwest later on Wednesday, then move across the south and east of the state on Thursday. The front should then dissipate in the evening as a new high builds to the south and an intense low moves across waters south of Western Australia. This high is forecast to continue to strengthen and move over the southern Tasman Sea on Friday as a cold front moves into the western Bight region.
