A high to the northwest extends a ridge over southern Tasmania while a trough lies over the northeast of the state. The high centre will cross Tasmania early on Friday then move away to the east allowing a warm northerly stream to develop that will persist through Saturday. A trough is expected to approach Tasmania from the northwest on Sunday, then develop into a low before moving over or near Tasmania during Monday.
