Forecast issued at 4:25 pm EST on Tuesday 4 August 2020.

Weather Situation

A complex area of low pressure sits off Tasmania's east coast, bringing a cold southerly stream with strong and gusty southerly winds. The low pressure system will deepen on Wednesday with the stream tending southwesterly as the low moves slowly eastwards over the Tasman Sea on Wednesday evening. Southwesterly winds moderate on Thursday as a large high pressure system over the Southern Ocean extends a ridge over Tasmania. The ridge will strengthen over the state on Friday and Saturday causing the winds to ease further.
