Weather Situation

A northwesterly airstream strengthening ahead of an approaching cold front, to cross Thursday afternoon. A ridge of high pressure is then expected to drift over the state on Friday, but will be short lived as another cold front is forecast to cross early Saturday. A cooler southwesterly airstream then follows on Saturday, easing and tending northwesterly on Sunday as a ridge crosses. A strong cold front moves over Tasmania on Monday morning.

Partly cloudy. Medium (40%) chance of showers, becoming less likely later this evening. Winds northwesterly 25 to 35 km/h decreasing to 15 to 25 km/h in the late evening.

Friday 19 August

Partly cloudy. High (70%) chance of showers in the north, medium (50%) chance elsewhere. The chance of morning frost in the north. Winds northwesterly 20 to 30 km/h. Overnight temperatures falling to around 2 with daytime temperatures reaching around 12.

Cloudy. Very high (90%) chance of showers, most likely in the morning and afternoon. Snow falling above 600 metres. Winds northwesterly 25 to 40 km/h turning westerly 20 to 30 km/h during the day. Overnight temperatures falling to between 3 and 6 with daytime temperatures reaching between 10 and 13.
