Weather Situation

A ridge of high pressure will move over Tasmania this evening and out to the east early on Friday, developing a northwesterly stream over the state. A cold front will then cross Tasmania late on Friday while weakening, with several lows moving to the southwest. The area of low pressure will pass near the south of Tasmania during Saturday with an associated trough to cross the state during the day. Winds will shift cold south to southwesterly on Sunday as the low moves away to the east and a high builds over the Bight. The high will drift to the north of Tasmania during Monday, as another cold front crosses the state.

Partly cloudy. Winds westerly 20 to 25 km/h turning northwesterly 15 to 20 km/h in the evening.

Friday 17 August

Partly cloudy. High (80%) chance of showers, most likely in the evening. Winds north to northwesterly and light becoming northwesterly 20 to 30 km/h in the morning then tending north to northwesterly 30 to 45 km/h in the early afternoon. Overnight temperatures falling to around 2 with daytime temperatures reaching between 10 and 14.
