Weather Situation

A trough approaches Tasmania today embedded in a freshening northwesterly stream. A cold front approaches late this evening and will cross Tasmania on Sunday, with a cool southwesterly flow to follow in its wake. This flow will ease through Monday as a narrow ridge approaches from the west, with a low to approach the west of the state during Tuesday.

Forecast for the rest of Saturday

Partly cloudy. The chance of fog near the coast early this morning. Morning frost about higher ground. Medium (60%) chance of showers, most likely during this afternoon and evening. Snow possible above 1500 metres. Winds northwesterly 25 to 35 km/h. Daytime maximum temperatures between 8 and 13.

Winds west to southwesterly 15 to 25 km/h turning north to northwesterly 25 to 35 km/h during the morning then becoming northwesterly 30 to 45 km/h during the afternoon. Overnight temperatures falling to between minus 3 and 4 above zero with daytime temperatures reaching between 8 and 14.
