Severe Weather Warning
for damaging winds and heavy rainfall
for people in the North East and East Gippsland forecast districts
Issued at 10:59 am EST on Saturday 18 April 2015.
An upper trough will weaken over northern Victoria today. Heavy rain over northeastern Victoria will contract eastwards this afternoon and clear by this evening.
DAMAGING WINDS around 70 km/h with peak gusts of 100 km/h are forecast for Alpine parts of the North East and East Gippsland forecast districts. Winds are expected to ease by early this afternoon.
Heavy rain which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is forecast for parts of the North East forecast district. Heavy rain areas will contract eastwards this afternoon and clear by this evening.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
- Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
- Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
- Keep clear of fallen power lines.
- Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.
- Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.

The next warning will be issued by 5:00 pm EST Saturday.
