Severe Weather Warning
for damaging winds
for people in the Wimmera, North Central, North East, South West, Central and West and South Gippsland forecast districts

Weather Situation

Northerly winds are expected to strengthen early on Tuesday morning as a squally southwesterly cool change approaches from the west. The change should reach far western Victoria later on Tuesday morning, extending to central parts during the afternoon then eastern Victoria in evening.

DAMAGING WINDS around 50-60 km/h with peak gusts of 90-100 km/h are forecast for parts of the Wimmera, North Central, South West, Central, West and South Gippsland forecast districts and elevated parts of the North East forecast district. In elevated parts of the State wind speeds of 60-80km/h are possible with peak gusts of 115km/h.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:

  • Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
  • Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
  • Keep clear of fallen power lines.
