for people in the North Central, North East, South West, Central, West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland forecast districts

Issued at 10:23 pm EST on Tuesday 29 July 2014.

Weather Situation

A cold front embedded in a vigorous northwest to westerly airstream is passing just to the south of Victoria and will move away to the east of Tasmania tonight.

The Severe Weather Warning for the North Central, South West, Central, West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland forecast districts and parts of the North East forecast district has been cancelled, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary. Damaging winds are likely to develop again Wednesday night or Thursday morning as a stronger cold front approaches from the southwest.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:

  • Keep clear of fallen power lines.
  • Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.
  • Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
  • Beware of fallen trees or debris on the road.

For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500.

No further warnings will be issued for this event.
