Cocos (Keeling) Islands Forecast

Weather Situation:
The monsoon trough lies off to the north as a ridge to the south directs a
moderate to fresh east to southeasterly flow over the Islands. Today a tropical
low is expected to form within the monsoon trough to the northwest of the
Islands. From Tuesday onwards, the risk of this low developing into a tropical
cyclone increases as conditions become favourable for development.

Forecast for the rest of Monday 8 February
A shower or two possible from the afternoon, with the chance of a thunderstorm.
Winds: East to northeasterly 5 to 10 knots.
Seas: 0.5 to 1.0 metre.
Swell: South to southwesterly 1.5 to 2.0 metres.
