Minor Flood Warning for the Fitzroy River

MINOR FLOODING CONTINUES AT NOONKANBAH

River levels are easing along the Fitzroy River catchment, where Fitzroy Crossing fell below the minor flood level on Tuesday morning. The main flood peak is at Noonkanbah, where the river level is slowly peaking, with minor flooding.

River level rises and flooding is likely between Noonkanbah and Willare. Willare is likely to peak just below the minor flood level later this week.

No significant rainfall in the past 24 hours over the Fitzroy River catchment and no significant rainfall is forecast for the next few days.

Fitzroy River to Fitzroy Crossing:

River levels are easing along the Fitzroy River at Fitzroy Crossing.

The Fitzroy River at Fitzroy Crossing peaked at 11.32 metres around midnight Sunday into Monday and is currently at 6.77 metres and falling, below the minor flood level.

Fitzroy River from Fitzroy Crossing to Noonkanbah:

Minor flooding is occurring along the Fitzroy River at Noonkanbah.

The Fitzroy River at Noonkanbah is currently at 10.79 metres and slowly rising, with minor flooding. Noonkanbah is expected to peak near 10.80 metres around 11:00 am Wednesday with minor flooding. The river level may remain above the minor flood level (9.50 m) for the next few days.

Fitzroy River from Noonkanbah to Willare:

River level rises and flooding is being observed along the Fitzroy River from Noonkanbah to Willare.

The Fitzroy River at Willare is currently at 6.29 metres and rising slowly, below the minor flood level. The Fitzroy River at Willare is likely to remain below the minor flood level (8.00 m) for the next few days as upstream floodwaters arrive.

Flood Safety Advice:

DFES advises people and communities to be aware that flooding is possible and be prepared to relocate equipment and livestock. Watch water levels. Travellers need to be aware that road conditions may be adversely affected and travel plans may need to be reconsidered. Do not drive into water of unknown depth and velocity.
