Flood Watch for the Pilbara District

Heavy rainfall is continuing in areas of the Pilbara. For the 24 hours to 9am Tuesday, rainfall totals of up to 68mm was recorded in the Pilbara area.
For the 24 hours to 9am Wednesday, rainfall totals of 30mm to 60mm, with isolated falls up to 80mm, have been forecast for the inland areas of the Pilbara. In the coastal areas, widespread falls of 45mm to 75mm, with isolated falls up to 125mm, are forecast for the same period.
Significant stream rises with areas of flooding may occur in the Pilbara during late Tuesday into Wednesday. The catchments likely to be affected are the De Grey, Port Hedland Coast, Fortescue, Onslow Coast and Ashburton river catchments.
DFES advises people and communities to be aware that flooding is possible and be prepared to relocate equipment and livestock. Watch water levels. Travellers need to be aware that road conditions may be adversely affected and travel plans may need to be reconsidered. Do not drive into water of unknown depth and velocity.
